Back to school

It is back to school time for us this week. The kids only went one day - they both have great teachers - so should be a great year. I'm starting out with more kids on my caseload than I thought - so that is always exciting! I think we are all glad to be back in routine. We are all getting excited that fall is coming. The leaf change will be so beautiful.

This wild animal sleeps in our house! Dusty loves napping in the sun under the blinds. Posted by Picasa

Critters!

We have all sorts of critters we've found around our house. Here are some pictures of some. Others I have yet to get pictures of: we have ant lions (doodle bugs) that eat ants, we kept a millipede for a pet for a few days, tons of salamanders - our favorite is a blue-tailed skink, lizards, big toads, centipedes, hummingbirds, wild turkeys running around, we rescued 3 turtles from the road, and ..... lots of mosquitoes. We also have so many varieties of wasps and bees - it is scary almost! Dave recently was mowing and was attacked by a swarm of yellow jackets when he mowed over their nest under ground. Luckily only one sting - but it was painful! Needless to say - we never know what we will see when we walk out the door.

This spring we saw so many butterflies. This is one that landed on our grape irises (they even smelled grape!!) Posted by Picasa

Our goldfinches love the thistle sock we put outside. There about 6 that come and go - 3 males - bright yellow, 3 females - light green. Posted by Picasa

Right next to our house one morning, a mother doe, and her twin fawns were grazing on our grass - too adorable!! Posted by Picasa
