recreation ideas from students

The top 3 list of activities to do in my county by my students at my school in North Carolina:
#3 - Has your son ever been coon huntin'?? (turkey and squirrel - also popular)
#2 - You got to get on your 4 wheeler and go to the mud slide!
#1 - Goin' fishin'!!

Outside

We have been in the house for 2 weeks. We swear - we have had the windows open more and have been outside more in these 2 weeks, than the whole 14 years in Dallas. OK, we are exaggerating, but not by much. Is it the scenery?? Is it the temperature?? Is it the mountain air?? Is it the physically living on a mountain??

Dave and Timmy have a new ritual. There is an old, rotting board outside on the grass. They lift the board up everday and find a new creature! So far - salamander, snake, and a millipede!

Our driveway is pretty steep. I am getting a good workout, just walking down and then back up (the hard part!!)

We have a campfire pit in our backyard. We've done s'mores twice so far!

The House

The whole family is moved into the new home. The kids love having a whole downstairs to themselves and having bigger bedrooms. The cat loves it, too - his fur has never been so soft! He sits by the screen doors or in the window sills watching the world go by! Dave and I stand on the porch, and just can't believe we are here! It is so beautiful. It has been fun watching the world around the house move from bare trees to full green and many colors of blossoms.

Update from NC

Just a quick hello, from my new job in NC. All is absolutely beautiful in the mountains. Many things are blossoming and leaves are starting to poke out on the trees. I just got into our new home and I am enjoying it. I love my new job! More info to come soon, as the moving process picks up!
