nature by us

We have some little wild strawberries growing in our yard. They are too cute. We also found some wild blackberries on our road.

Our newest discovery is a 100 foot waterfall about 10 minutes from our house. Absolutely gorgeous. If you come visit, I promise to take you to it!!

allergies

Hard to believe that we moved to place that has worse allergies than "dry" Dallas. But the mountains are definitely the winner. I have had a runny nose for 2 solid months. Something bloomed over Memorial Day weekend and all 4 of us were in misery. Really, almost the entire school was suffering! It is getting better now (I hope!)

The weather has been awesome. We've had some hot days, with some rain, but today is sunny and 70's - perfect. Too bad I'm still working - uugh!

Bears

Apparently, our neighbor's dogs were barking last week. They went to see what all the racket was about - and saw a 500 lb. black bear in their yard!! I think we will stay up on our 2nd level porches for awhile - ha! I think the bears are waking up from hibernating and are getting pretty hungry this time of year.

Daggum!

Yes, I actually have heard this expression used about 4 times in the last 2 days. Your vocabulary lesson for today is: this is an expression used commonly in North Carolina. It means wow, I can't believe it. As in, "Daggum, it is hot out here!" or "Did you see him do that? Daggum!!" I was laughing at this because in the trailer for the new Cars cartoon movie coming out, the tow truck alwasys says "Daggum!" It is about a race car, so he could totally be in NC - Nascar territory!
